The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (N Ireland) 1982 requires employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be administrated to employees should they become ill or injured at the workplace.
The City of Derry Airport Fire Service can deliver Health and Safety Executive N Ireland (HSENI) approved First Aid at Work courses to meet the needs of all employers and their employees.
HSENI First Aid at Work
This 3 day HSENI approved course includes:
- Dealing with incidents
- Using a first aid kit
- Treating a unconscious casualty
- Heart attacks
- Control of bleeding
- Burns and Scalds
HSENI First Aid at Work (refresher)
This 2 day HSENI approved course is designed for persons who require requalification of their FAW certificate within 28 days of their current certificate expiry date.
HSE Emergency First Aid at Work
This 1 day HSENI approved course is designed for a nominated person who is required to take charge in the event of illness or accident where no first aid personnel are available or it is a small low risk business. Course includes managing an emergency, contents of a first aid box, control of bleeding, resuscitation and treatment of an unconscious casualty.
The 3 day First Aid at Work course totals 18 hours and is best managed over 3 consecutive days however; the course can also be delivered over 3 weeks at one day per week.
The 2 day refresher First Aid at Work course totals 12 hours and is best managed over 2 consecutive days however, the course can also be delivered over 2 weeks at one day per week.
The 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work course totals 6 hours and is best managed over 1 day.
Candidates, who successfully complete any of the above courses, including the practical assessment, will receive a HSENI approved certificate valid for 3 years.
