City of Derry Airport’s Celebrates NEW Manchester Service

It is a joyous occasion for City of Derry Airport as Loganair’s inaugural flight to Manchester took off on Friday 24th May amid celebrations at City of Derry Airport.  The new daily service is available from just £39.99pp one way and brings fantastic news for the North West as it provides direct connectivity to one of the main hubs in the North of England and creates onward connectivity to an abundance of international destinations via Manchester.

Kay Ryan, Commercial Director at Loganair commented: “We are delighted to be starting our third route from City of Derry Airport now flying to Manchester daily with fares starting from as a little as £39.99.  Forward bookings are very encouraging and it’s great to see customers taking advantage of this new route for visits to the north west and also being able to make those vital onwards connections with our interline partners, Emirates and Qatar Airways.”

Charlene Shongo, Airport Manager at City of Derry Airport, stated: “We are absolutely delighted to be celebrating Loganair inaugural flight to Manchester.  This is excellent news for the airport and our customers as Loganair’s new daily service to Manchester, on top of their existing services to London Stansted and Glasgow International, is evidence of the airlines commitment to maintain frequent, conveniently scheduled air services from City of Derry Airport.  This is a very welcome boost for both the Airport and the wider North West region.  A direct air link with Manchester is important for the economic development of the region.

Loganair offer all-inclusive fares, which includes 20kg hold baggage and 6kg hand luggage at no additional cost as well as complimentary in-flight refreshments.  Loganair also offer discounts on child fares and frequent flyers can benefit from the Clan Loganair loyalty programme.

The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Michaela Boyle, joined Airport Manager, Charlene Shongo, and staff at the airport to celebrate the new service to Manchester with passengers travelling outbound on the inaugural flight. Passengers were treated to complimentary refreshments, exclusive Loganair giveaways and certificates as a keepsake of the historic date.

Mayor Michaela Boyle welcomed the latest addition to the airport’s route portfolio: “I am delighted to see Loganair’s inaugural flight from City of Derry Airport to Manchester departing from Eglinton,” she said. “The route is a welcome addition to the airport’s portfolio and will provide passengers with enhanced connectivity for business and leisure travel as well as a wide range of global options for onward journeys from Manchester airport.

The airport already has a long-standing relationship with Loganair dating back over the last 40 years and I would encourage local people to visit the airline’s website to learn more about their flight times and fares from City of Derry Airport to London, Glasgow and Manchester.

“As a Council we are committed to ensuring City of Derry Airport is the airport of choice for the North West of Ireland, offering passengers both convenience and outstanding customer service and we will continue to work with the airport and its partners to explore additional route options.”
