Passengers with Reduced Mobility

The City of Derry Airport is a new airport completed in 1994 and it was designed very much with special needs passengers in mind.

Assistance and facilities include:

  • Low level kerbs and ramps throughout the car park and adjacent to the terminal
  • Dedicated car parking spaces in the main car park nearest to the terminal
  • Concessions on car parking fees for Disabled Badge holders
  • All passenger facilities are located on the ground floor with no steps
  • Special needs toilets in the main concourse and in the Departures Area
  • Induction Loop for hearing impaired

Our best facility for special needs passengers are our staff who will endeavour to help any passenger who has made it known that they require assistance.

Wheelchairs are available on request. Where possible, these should be arranged in advance preferably at the time of booking, or at any time prior to arrival at the airport.

Please note that whilst the airport provides wheelchairs on request to all passengers, each airline will have a different policy on the handling of wheelchair passengers. For further information please check with the airline prior to booking.

Note: A new European regulation will guarantee more rights for both the disabled and people with reduced mobility when they travel by air. Nearly one in five Europeans can require assistance for travelling or communicating. From 26 July 2008, these people will have the right to assistance and certain services in all European Union airports, as well as on board aircraft operating throughout European territory.

  • On-line viewing of the video
  • A Help Point for passengers who have made their way into the terminal is situated at the Information Desk in the check-in hall.
  • Departing passengers requiring Special Travel Assistance should attend the appropriate check-in desk before the minimum check-in time, as stipulated by the airline or holiday company, with the appropriate travel documents.
